Which adhesive labels should be used?
Using paper labels or even glueing plain paper onto the tape cartridge is a very bad idea which may damage your library or drive seriously.
IBM LTO specifications state clearly that The barcode label and associated adhesive shall have an environmental performance to match or exceed the environmental specifications of the cartridge to which it is applied. For this reason I personally use Avery Zweckform L4775-20 Heavy Duty Polyester Labels which are weatherproof and durable between -20°C and +80°C without any problems for 2 years now.
Barcode recognition problems:
If your library has problems recognizing the barcodes correctly then it's most likely that the reflectivity of the printout is too high. In this case please try another laser printer. I had no problems printing these labels on a HP LaserJet P2055DN and HP LaserJet M2727nfs printers.

Restrictions of the generator:
To prevent robots using this generator and creating excessive load on the server label generation is limited to 15 requests per day per IP-Address and you have to wait 30 seconds between two requests. Also you cannot generate more than 160 labels per request. This means you may create 2400 labels per day within less than 10 minutes. I think will fit for nearly everyone.
Actually the generator is only able to produce labels similar to the sample. If you need color labels or another layout please let me know. I will try to implement it.
Although this service is free, donations are highly appreciated. You may donate via PayPal or Flattr. Also it's possible to support me by buying products on the german Amazon shop via one of my affiliate links above-mentioned.
3rd party components:
This generator is using Barcode Writer in Pure PostScript.
Except the common logging of the webserver itself NO additional personal data is stored on the server. For daily limits your ip address is stored for 24 hours max as a non reversible sha256 hash. Additionally statistical and non expiring data is stored for every label generation. This record consists only of a timestamp, how many labels were requested and for which media type. If you have any questions please feel free to ask!
